대구 팔공산에 위치한 갓바위는 석조여래좌상으로, 오래전부터 소원을 비는 장소로 알려져 있다. 가뭄이 들면 사람들은 이곳에 올라 기우제를 지냈고, 검게 그을린 갓바위를 비가 씻어 준다는 믿음 또한 함께 전해져 내려왔다.
갓바우의 캐릭터 디자인은 이러한 갓바위의 상징성과 오래된 설화에서 출발했다. 묵묵히 자리를 지키며 사람들의 바람을 받아주는 존재이자, 비를 기다리던 시간과 기도의 마음을 품은 상징으로 갓바위를 캐릭터로 재해석했다.
로바는 이 이야기 속에서 바우의 곁에 피어난 작은 생명으로 설정했다. 돌과 돌 사이에서 어렵게 움튼 새싹은 바우의 보살핌 아래 무사히 자라나 네잎클로버가 되었고, 그렇게 로바는 척박한 환경 속에서도 피어난
작은 행운의 상징으로 탄생했다.
Gatbawi, located on Palgongsan Mountain in Daegu, South Korea, is a stone seated Buddha long known as a place where people come to make wishes. In times of drought,
people would climb to the site to pray for rain, believing that rainfall would wash over the darkened Gatbawi.
God Bow was inspired by this symbolism and the old stories surrounding Gatbawi. The statue was reimagined as a character that quietly stays in place,
listens to people’s wishes, and carries the sense of prayer and hope connected to the long-awaited rain.
Lova was created as a small life born beside Bow within this story.A tiny sprout growing between the stones was cared for by Bow and eventually grew into a four-leaf clover.
Through this story, Lova became a symbol of small but meaningful luck blooming even in a harsh environment.
