이 프로젝트는 대구대학교 중앙박물관 기획전 〈최초의 점자책, 손으로 보는 세상을 열다〉의 전시 공간 디자인이다.
전시는 의료선교사이자 교육자인 로제타 셔우드 홀(Rosetta Sherwood Hall, 1865–1951)과 대구대학교가 소장한
국가등록문화유산 ‘로제타 홀 한글점자 교재’를 소개하기 위해 기획되었다.
‘로제타 홀 한글점자 교재’는 1897년 창안된 한글점자 4점식을 사용해 제작된 자료로,
우리나라 초기 시각장애 교육과 특수교육의 역사를 보여주는 중요한 유물이다.
본 프로젝트는 로제타 셔우드 홀의 활동과 최초의 한글 점자 교재가 지닌 역사적 의미를
전시 공간 안에서 전달하는 데 초점을 두고 디자인했다.
This project is an exhibition space design for “The First Braille Book,
Opening a World Seen by Hand” at the Daegu University Central Museum.
The exhibition introduces Rosetta Sherwood Hall (1865–1951) and “Rosetta Hall’s Korean Braille Textbook,”
a nationally registered cultural heritage item preserved by Daegu University.
Made with the four-dot Korean braille system created in 1897,
this textbook is an important artifact that shows the early history of education
for the visually impaired and special education in Korea.
The project focuses on presenting Rosetta Sherwood Hall’s work and the historical meaning
of the first Korean braille textbook through the exhibition space.
